What's Included in Post-Construction Cleaning?
Published June 8, 2026
A new build or remodel always looks finished long before it is actually clean. Construction leaves behind a fine layer of drywall dust, adhesive residue, paint flecks, and debris that ordinary cleaning simply pushes around. Post-construction cleaning is a specialized service that makes a space genuinely move-in ready — and it usually happens in three phases.
Phase 1: Rough clean
Done once the major trades are out. This phase clears the big stuff so the space is safe to work in:
- Remove leftover materials, packaging, and large debris.
- Knock down dust from ceilings, walls, and fixtures.
- Initial sweep and removal of stickers and labels.
Phase 2: Final clean
The detailed phase that makes the space presentable:
- Wipe down all surfaces, fixtures, cabinetry, and trim.
- Clean interior windows, frames, and tracks.
- Detail restrooms and kitchens, including fixtures and hardware.
- Clean and polish tile and grout; vacuum and clean floors.
- Remove dust from vents, light fixtures, and switches.
Phase 3: Touch-up clean
A final pass just before handover or opening day to catch fingerprints, settled dust, and anything disturbed during final inspections or furniture installation.
Why hire a specialist
Construction dust is abrasive and gets everywhere — into vents, behind fixtures, and deep into carpet fibers. Cleaning it with standard equipment can scratch new surfaces or simply redistribute the dust. A dedicated post-construction cleaning crew uses the right tools and process so your new space is safe, spotless, and ready for business.
